Mary Buckholtz Mary graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Rehabilitation Education. She worked for United Cerebral Palsy Association of Pittsburgh for 23 years. She was the Director of the Supports West division of Community Living & Support Services, the service corporation of UCP. Mary was led into the rehabilitation field after she experienced a stroke during her senior year in high school. It became important for her to use that personal experience with disability to help others. Mary began her career with UCP as an instructor in independent living classes. She moved into various management roles until she became the Director of the Supports West division. Mary’s driving force has been to do everything possible to support people to live and participate in their communities and to have control over their lives to the greatest extent possible. She has been a member of the SHOUT Board of Directors for over ten years. |
