Jennifer Lowe

Jennifer has cerebral palsy, and is unable to speak, walk, or control her extremities how she wishes.  Therefore, she uses an augmentative communication device to speak and gets around in a wheelchair.

Jennifer earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Specialized Studies from Edinboro University.  She had two concentrations to her degree - Special Education and Writing.  Since she earned that degree, she has obtained a few positions.  She is the Executive Director of SHOUT and the Lead Ambassador of The Pittsburgh Ambassador Program.  As the Executive Director of Shout, she fundraises for their Pittsburgh Employment Conference.  As the Lead Ambassador of The Pittsburgh Ambassador Program, she chairs monthly meetings, corresponds with other Ambassadors through the phone, e-mail, and instant messengers.  She also encourages and accompanies them to various speaking engagements, and facilitates them to be as independent as they can be with their AAC.

A few years ago, Jennifer took on a position with the Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network.  PaTTAN is affiliated with the Special Education Department in the Pittsburgh Public School System.  Her duties are compiling information on new augmentative communication devices and working in transition.
